Updates to this guide
This is a revision log, not a news feed. Nothing here is an announcement about OrientDig, and we do not republish the agent notices. What it records is what we changed on these pages and why, including corrections we made to our own drafts.
Facts on this site carry the date we checked them. When a fact goes stale we either recheck it or remove it, and either way it turns up in the list below.
What has changed
Newest first. Where a change came from a reader, we say so.
| Date | Change | What and why |
|---|---|---|
| First published | The guide went up with ten pages covering what OrientDig is, what the Orientdig Spreadsheet is, how to search for an item, categories, ordering, common failures, help and this log. Facts about the agent were taken from orientdig.com on this date. | |
| Help centre section count corrected before publication | An earlier draft said the official help centre had eight sections. Counting the tabs on the page itself gives seven, so the figure and the diagram were both changed before anything went live. | |
| Image button claim removed | A draft described what the image button in the OrientDig search bar does. We had not tested it, so the description came out and the photo search route is now described on the marketplace side, where we could check it. | |
| The Spreadsheet page rewritten around the Orientdig Spreadsheet | The first draft of that page explained what the word spreadsheet means in this corner of the internet, which is background rather than the subject. It now explains the Orientdig Spreadsheet itself: what is on a card, which marketplaces the listings come from, and the line between the catalogue and the agent. A diagram of that handover replaced one that had been borrowed from the 404 page and read wrongly in context. | |
| Catalogue figure updated from the previous site | The page that used to sit on this domain said over 5,000 products. Our own catalogue index counted more than 20,000 listings in August 2026, so the figure was updated and attributed rather than repeated. |
How we keep it current
Three habits, none of them clever. Anything quoted from OrientDig carries the date we captured it. Outbound links are re-tested rather than assumed. And wording about search behaviour gets rechecked when a marketplace changes something visible.
If you find something stale before we do, tell us. Corrections get logged here with the date.
What we re-checked in October 2026, and what it moved
This is the log for the October pass. It lists what was opened again, what the check found, and what changed on the page as a result. Checks that found nothing are listed too, because a log that only records the months something broke is indistinguishable from a log nobody is writing.
| What was checked | How | What it found |
|---|---|---|
| Every category address this guide links to | Each one requested over HTTP, not assumed from a pattern | All resolved. Two were rewritten to the full category path so the browser stops being bounced through an intermediate address, and one category was dropped because its only official address sits under a misspelled parent that we will not publish. |
| The partner registration link | Opened directly and followed to its destination | Reaches the registration page with the referral intact. It had been defined in the build and used on no page at all, while the about page already said our links carry it. It now appears in the footer of every page, labelled. |
| The sixteen category images on the home page | Opened one by one at full size before publishing | Four of the sixteen had to be replaced: the pictures the catalogue filed under jeans were denim jackets, under womenswear were handbags, under perfume were leather goods, and under watches were caps and bracelets. |
| Every diagram in this guide | Rebuilt as image files and re-read | All twenty one were rebuilt. The content is unchanged; one caption that named another site was rewritten while they were being regenerated. |
| The official pages quoted on each page | Compared against the captures taken on 4 August 2026 | No wording changes found. The read date on each figure caption still says 4 August 2026 because that is when the capture was taken, and we will not restamp a date we did not re-earn. |
